This was a trip to bring urban young people to experience life in a rural area and to deliver school supplies for children who live in the province and are very poor. But when I realized it would take a long time before a small NGO working in a country, like say, Cambodia, might be able to purchase a small number of them (less than 100) to outfit a school, I was disappointed. My fellow BlogHer co-editor, Beth Kanter , has launched a fundraising campaign using ChipIn. Between now and December 31st, Beth is working to raise $750 for the Sharing Foundation , an NGO that works with local officials, orphanages, and NGOs in Cambodia to improve children's lives. She sits on their board.

Annette is involved with a ngo called Half the Sky Foundation that supports orphans in china with educational and development programs. Very similar work to the Sharing Foundation that works in Cambodia with children - disclosure- I'm on the board). I also met Lorretta Donovan, President of Worksmarts, and an appreciative inquiry guru.

As I mentioned in a post a couple weeks ago, I've started writing a weekly feature over at Blogher called Solutionary Women. MOMS is a grassroots movement of pregnant women, nursing mothers, and other caregivers who are concerned about the threat that environmental contaminants pose to our unborn and nursing children.
