This year, Blog Action Day’s focus is FOOD as it coincides with World Food Day that aims to increase awareness, understanding and fuel year-around action to alleviate hunger. The stats on world hunger are staggering: According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN, close to one billion people are chronically hungry.

Fortunately, soup kitchens don’t work alone in addressing hunger. Collectively, these organizations begin to address the complex issue of hunger. In January 2011, at a gathering hosted by TechSoup Global, we began talking about how to model our own ideals. To that end, we convened in November 2011 to answer those questions.
