On July 9, 2009 I interviewed David about Spot.us I think at the national level we're always going to have The New York Times , CNN, and The Washington Post to do national investigations, but what we really are threatened to lose in the next year to five years is local investigations and local reporting.

With initial funding of $2,500, he started the CompuMentor Project to match computer enthusiast volunteers called computer mentors with Bay Area nonprofits that needed the help.

Last year we piloted it, in 2009. The most powerful impact we found was actually in the women's leadership and influence locally. Just here in the Bay Area we have local things like, Oakland Local , Oakland Seen , and Spot.us. We brought professional empowerment mentors and coaches, and also professional editors.
