Through this scholarship, Bookshare will donate one new membership every Valentine’s Day to a person with financial need. She said her primary motivation when starting out with Bookshare was to help provide timely books for young adult and teen readers. She therefore set out to make many more books available to young readers.

She saw a tremendous need for literacy and outreach services, particularly to the Lower Ninth Ward neighborhood, where the aftereffects of Katrina were the most devastating. She also started a community garden that holds events with food and literacy programs. Copel has won a number of awards for her service to the City of New Orleans.

Over the past year, we've been doing TechSoup Impact stories about nonprofits, churches, and libraries doing great work with TechSoup product donations. An increasing number of public libraries are discovering TechSoup donations, but few are maxing them out like Waukesha Public Library in Wisconsin. HART for Animals.
