Late at night on Sunday August 29th, Hurricane Ida made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane near Port Fourchon, Louisiana. All of New Orleans is without power and an estimated one million people across Louisiana and Missouri are without power. UNICEF USA is collecting donations to aid their partners on the ground in Louisiana.

The largest theme that is constant in disaster philanthropy is partnership. 82% of that funding came from corporations, where 18% was sourced from independent, community and public foundations. Other examples of collaboration were foundations working with peers who had grantees in the area or staff on the ground.
