I imagine, too, because it’s based on an open source platform, developers will begin to code in data portability (or have they already?) You can log in using OpenID.

There is a very interesting PDF floating about with a powerpoint presentation by the CEO of the RIAA about the copyright/filesharing, etc. There is a new, interesting project under Creative Commons license. It looks pretty amazing – and a great testament to what open source licensing can do for creative work. {

When data is stuck on servers, web publishing is slow and centralized. When your stakeholders can't chew on, discuss, and disseminate your data and messages, transparency can't happen. More and more of our data is in the cloud, or accessible via APIs. You need to do that with your own data. You can do it, too!

As I learned from attending the just completed Convio Summit in Austin, Texas, a discussion about APIs and databases fortunately doesnt have to be technical. The essence of an API is that it enables databases and applications to talk to each other, so you can share data and host data in multiple places simultaneously.
