Britt Bravo: In so many of the groups you profiled, the women were using the arts for education, empowerment, or healing. The children are ages 6-16, and they're making huge strides by leading a national movement against child rape in Zimbabwe. My last question is always, "What would you like to ask me?"

Alli: Interesting question, like what is the road that gets us anywhere, I think they're always somewhat circuitous and unplanned. You just have to keep planting and just got to hope that other people will come along after you to water those seeds and to know that the trees our for our children's children.

They wanted to create a literacy program for themselves because now there was a school where their children could go to school, but they felt embarrassed that they couldn't support their children because they themselves were illiterate. Women and their children are disproportionately victims of outside violence as well.
