Nonprofit consultant Hildy Gottlieb has been a vocal skeptic and is deeply philosophically opposed to online contests as a method of change in the social sector. Or host a rib, pie, or hot dog eating contest and have your own tip jars for people to support their favorite competitors in the form of donations.
