The National Science Foundation is convinced cyberinfrastructure will transform the conduct of the sciences and that other academic disciplines will soon follow.

According to Benjamin Stokes, co-founder of Game sfor Change, the NSF has funded several game projects aimed at girls. There are also some women organized commercial developers and a few blogs covering the topic, like Game Girl Advance , particularly Brenda Laurel who is covered in some detail here.

These games were developed by Carnegie Mellon with funding from the NSF, with the goal of harnessing collective intelligence (and interest in playing games) to tag all of the images on the internet. With good reason.

It's comparable to the tools that allow you to re-blog items of interest, but unlike situations where I make a response video on YouTube, ScratchR actually allows you to download the original project, add or alter the programming, and then upload the result as a remix (with credit to the original creator). You can also remix other projects.
