It's 8am in the classroom; 5am in my body. A cheerful curly-haired deli owner stands in front of 30 of us and shares a quote he loves: "Artists live in the present and write detailed histories of the future." A SIMPLE WAY TO TRY IT This week, we experimented with visioning at my museum in an all-staff meeting.

They were there for artist talks. Every other year, they convene TUPAC, a group of 35 outside advisors, including teens, college students, Temple University professors, artists, philanthropists, and community leaders. Artsy journals. They were there for project brainstorming. They were there for chair races. Empty pegboards.

That means we collect university press, handmade artist books, zines made by sixth graders, poetry chapbooks from big names published in tiny local presses, and self-published poetry chapbooks sold for a dollar on the street. We’ve been doing this for close to five years and have accumulated over 2,000 publications.

Forum One partnered with the Museum to launch their new brand to the world. This work not only included launching a new website but also revitalizing the American Jazz Museum brand as a whole. It also won the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture a Silver Vega Award!
