Another point of intersection here for me is Henry Jenkins recently published 72-page white paper " Confronting the Challenges of Participatory Culture: Media Education for the 21st Century." A participatory culture is also one in which members believe their contributions matter, and feel some degree of social connection to one another. Expressions (media creation, mashups, etc). the ability to meaningfully sample and remix media content.
