We’re thrilled that students and other readers who have disabilities that keep them from reading standard print can now read the same books as their peers, using the same devices.

Illuminate India and Clubhouse Guatemala both completely cover the cost of many of the children in their programs with monthly sponsors. This means new challenges ahead in scaling Bookshare.org to serve every single student with a print disability in the U.S. This event was very exciting, as we have never previously received federal funding for Bookshare.org. OSEP told us on a Sunday that we needed to start serving students for free right away.

The amazing thing about serving 100,000 students right now is that our commitment to the U.S. Department of Education was to serve 100,000 students by the end of our five-year contract in late 2012. Literacy, human rights and the environment are critically important to the future of humanity.
