This technique is the " hold a sign meme " where you ask your community to send photos to flickr of you (or your animal) holding a protest sign. Today, I happened to see HSUS that staffer Carrie Lewis posted a note on her profile and it showed up on my friends feed on Facebook. I would love to see campaign map.

XKCD has finally updated its Map of Online Communities , showing the size of Facebook relative to its smaller brethren. " Artist Jenny Odell used digital cutouts from Google Maps to create some striking images. Can we all collectively promise to let that meme drop? "Farmville is so huge! At least, we hope so.

They built an iGoogle dashboard and fed RSS feeds based on information they were seeking in online social networks. Then, grab the search RSS feed and add it to your iGoogle. We used this technique for DIGG, forums, Twitter, Bing, and Google and then set up various searches along with monitoring of certain Twitter feeds.
