I just returned from doing two days of facilitating a Networked Nonprofit training in Mexico City with Oxfam Mexico and participants from offices throughout Latin America, South America, and Caribbean. We had a lot of content and process to go through during the two-day training. I do not speak Spanish.

Initially, after conversations with a lot of domestic workers, we realized that the women really wanted to have negotiation training. Through the negotiation training, women began identifying particular problems that they were having in their work. Women would tell all of these incredible stories throughout the negotiation training.

Due to US restraints on trade, Cuba was only able to purchase Missouri rice through a cash trade.

Pearl has profiled 9 women in 9 countries: Cambodia: Somaly Mam, a former sex worker who founded Acting for Women in Distressing Situations , an organization that rescues sex workers in Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam, and gives them job training. Cuba: Laura Pollan, whose home is the headquarters for Damas en Blanco ( Ladies in White).
