Climate change is on people's minds. PR: I was in Brazil a few months ago, and in this village in Brazil there are about eighty or ninety families that are all very small coffee growers. It's about three hundred dollars a year to send a kid to high school in this region of Brazil. So, we're mindful of that.

And mind you, they weren't all women who wanted to be journalists. They came from the favelas of Brazil, from Alaska, from the Bronx, immigrant women from the Bronx. The most powerful impact we found was actually in the women's leadership and influence locally. So, we started this program. Last year we piloted it, in 2009.

First, in the Netherlands we used them as a tool to influence the Dutch government and get the media on board. There were some complications with this, we didnt have enough ethnic avatars, so the Brazilian one was a blonde girl, as we knew there were also blonde girls in Brazil. We have used the concept twice in a different way.
