I've been reflecting on some of the points made about the pros/cons of the NpTech Tag and the comment that Laura Quinn left here. I scan the tagged items every week and do a pattern analysis and summary of these undifferentiated items. Obviously, it ain't no taxonomy and it shouldn't substitute for one. I admit it.

The Cross Blog Discussion of the NpTechTag has generated some comments and blog posts that I've summarized below. How are they different from taxonomies? Gavin's post does a great job explaining the definitions and the advantages of a taxonomy over a folksonomy. Sort of an emergent taxonomy.
