Each year the International Computer Refurbishers Summit awards a lifetime achievement award. This year the award went to Nancy Jo Craig who runs the nonprofit Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council (CACRC) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. When she ran the Nature Conservancy in Louisiana, 200,000 acres were set aside.

In hardware life extension news, the grand award winner for software in Popular Science's Best of What's New 2013 this year is a server/software technology called Neverware Juicebox. This years’ Nobel Prize for Peace was awarded to the technology oriented Dutch NGO, Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.
