As the United States continues its fall in international broadband ratings, it is clear that our current system, devoid of competition and consumer choice, is putting private interests above the public good. We should look to other models. Adopt Net Neutrality requirements that go beyond the FCC's current broadband policy statement.

5 As for Uber and Lyft, these companies maintain policies that reward workers for low ride- cancellation rates—policies that are so tightly enforced, drivers are pressured to continue their rides even in the face of verbal abuse or physical assault. First, they can become a model for creating a true solidarity economy.
