Benetech’s Bookshare library continues to expand its international service providing accessible books and publications to members in more than 30 countries. Our international Bookshare service recently announced new partnerships with three organizations that are reaching out to readers with print disabilities in their home countries.

A hot topic at the SCCR20/WIPO discussions in Geneva on global access to materials by the print disabilities is the term "Trusted Intermediaries"("TIs"). proposal has similar (but not quite as out there) language saying that the organization using the exception has to have the trust of both the publishers and the consumer groups.

It’s what makes our Bookshare service legally possible. We believe that print disabled people should be able to buy accessible books at the same time and at the same price as nondisabled people. There seems to be a concern about importing accessible books into countries where the publisher hasn't actually published the print book.
