Most Vietnamese people (80 percent) report having no religion. Its eight major islands (in terms of landmass) are Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan (Borneo), Sulawesi (Celebes), and Irian Jaya (the western half of Papua New Guinea). The Viet people are the most numerous ethnic group. English is increasingly favored as a second language.
