The reports suggests that tagging is poised to go mainstream because of more and more sites, like Google and Yahoo, make it easier to tag. folksonomies??? -- it's a play on the word ???taxonomies.??? Folksonomies reveal how the public is making sense of things, not just how expert cataloguers think we ought to be thinking.

The result of these ad hoc collaborations was a folksonomy of terms of nonprofit technology related news and a community of taggers. Most recently, Marnie Webb created a Yahoo Pipe of the NpTech Feed and runing it through AideRSS to sort it by popularity. As the volume of information increased, weekly summaries were added to the mix.

As mentioned in the screencast, Del.icio.us , which was purchased by Yahoo, is a good place to start. s a folksonomy. If you want to find out who else uses what social bookmarking service in the nonprofit tech sector, check out Social Source Commons. It has a critical mass of users, is fairly easy to use, and it is free.
