I often talk about the idea of taking social technology out of the Web and putting it into physical museums as part of our exhibitions and programs. Recently, I learned about an innovative, super-low tech tagging pro ject in a library that does this beautifully. Why are folksonomies useful? Sounds complicated?

And this year it may very well be virtual volunteering. Jayne Cravens has a great piece on the topic here and you find an excellent how-to article for using SKYPE with virtual volunteers here. The article offers some clear explanations of taxonomies and folksonomies, but goes on to give many reasons why you should dislike folksonomies.
