International phone lines were jammed & I couldn’t reach my husband where he was working in France, to let him know I’d flown to LA, and I’d made it. Back then, he took comfort when he saw a small charge at a RadioShack in Phoenix, and rightly guessed we’d stopped to pick up cell-phone chargers.
