They solicit community members to volunteer, bring them into mission activities, and broadcast their work to the public. This is not new, but it was on the minds of our volunteer managers, and in a big way. The challenges of remote volunteering are front-of-mind for many volunteer managers. Here’s what they had to say.

I was working at Public Interactive in Boston, where we built tech for public broadcasting. There was a hole in our lives, so we decided to check out the Oregon Humane Society. It was the perfect amount of silliness to take our minds off Duke for a few hours. I didn’t fly again for about 12 years. Fast forward to about 2005.

They broadcast and unite women's voices from around the world into a powerful force for change. After that I decided to move back to Portland, because I felt Portland, Oregon was an amazing place to start a vision. And mind you, they weren't all women who wanted to be journalists. So, we started this program.
