The first opportunity that I had to go back was to work in a refugee camp in Botswana. I committed to learning more, and I went to Stanford and started studying Swahili and African studies. Completely random. Losing some, a lot of fundraising in the process, but gaining more than we could ever have imagined in impact and long term change.
