Britt Bravo: In so many of the groups you profiled, the women were using the arts for education, empowerment, or healing. Betty and six of her high school English students founded an organization called the Girl Child Network. I went to 15 countries on five continents, and interviewed and photographed 129 women.

I think my favorite example of that is a women's group from the highlands of Bolivia who wrote to us maybe seven or eight years ago. Almost nowhere else in the world can you go and find the range of nationalities, ethnicities, race, language and backgrounds that you have here--not to mention the delicious food.
