We are based in Oakland, but we do work nationally, and in many cases globally, but our funding is always under constraints. BB: A lot of your work at United for a Fair Economy was raising awareness and doing research and studies about the racial wealth divide. If the most affected are raised up, then that will make waves outward.

Drivers talked about their dream to somehow run their own app as an alternative to Uber. After one year of planning, New York’s Drivers Cooperative was born in May of 2021 , with a goal to launch an on-demand app owned by workers themselves which customers can use as an alternative to Uber and Lyft for hailing rides.
