Stevenson is a lawyer who graduated from Harvard Law School and started EJI to dedicate his life to fighting the unequal treatment of marginalized communities. Mr. Hinton spent almost 30 years on death row in Alabama. When we teach history in the United States, we often skip the parts that are not so wonderful.
