Here’s some news on a now famous NetSquared alumnus project. It is a nonprofit tech company that develops free and open-source software for information collection, visualization, and crowdsourced interactive mapping to help mitigate disasters. I first heard about this from Marnie Webb, who co-founded NetSquared.

Ushahidi has been developing open-source crisis mapping software for over eight years now. During the early days of our Netsquared project , we held big annual conferences to showcase and fund innovative tech for good. BRCK deals with the problem of frequent Internet and electricity outages in much of the developing world.
