I grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, and both sets of my grandparents came from rural Mississippi. He grew all types of vegetables, and he had fruit trees, and he also raised chickens. I always encourage people that if you have available green space, grow your own food. It's said that some of the Gumbo Zavs use up to nine greens.
