Ultramarathons are extreme running events: 250-kilometer (155-mile) foot races over five or six days in the harshest environments on Earth. David Barnard has completed six of these grueling races: The Kalahari Desert in Botswana and South Africa (its name is derived from a Tswana word meaning "the great thirst").

We bring communities together to identify their top problems, needs, and priorities, and solve them internally. The first opportunity that I had to go back was to work in a refugee camp in Botswana. The biggest problem with international development is that people don't know where their money is going. Completely random.
