I agree, but is a ratio the best number? I remember serving as a panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts and had to quantify artistic merit. Kaushik's advice is: For your blog, personal or professional I recommend a goal setting exercise. He does suggest that comments per post is also another metric of quality.
