It is based on some open source code called Pligg that creates a "digg" like interface. Someone on the 501 Tech Club NY list ( NTEN Affinity Group ) suggested a name change might be needed. A Blast from the Past Gavin has posted some really early photos of the founding meetings for Aspiration, NTEN, and the NSNT on flickr.
