Although Vietnam is regarded as a developing country, it has a literacy rate of 94 percent. Since 1986, the country has been transitioning from a central-planned economy to a free-market system and trying to move from its dependency on agriculture to industry. Vietnam is an S-shaped country that is slightly larger than New Mexico.
