And mind you, they weren't all women who wanted to be journalists. The most powerful impact we found was actually in the women's leadership and influence locally. Just here in the Bay Area we have local things like, Oakland Local , Oakland Seen , and Spot.us. So, we started this program. Last year we piloted it, in 2009.
