While it is a feature of many social sharing sites, often times those very sites do not provide beginner-friendly instructions on how to use tags effectively. To understand why tagging is found on so many social sharing sites it helps to understand why tags exist in the first place.

I wondered whether there was a Dummie's Guide available on someone's blog or if so, how the hell I would ever find it. So, I spent time browsing through nptech tag that Marnie Web set up and looking at all the urls crossreferenced for tag, tagging, and folksonomy. He mentions his slides - so I asked if they were published on his site.
