Here’s some news on a now famous NetSquared alumnus project. Ushahidi is an NGO headquartered in Kenya. Ushahidi was a NetSquared Mashup Challenge winner in the fabled 2008 Netsquared conference in Santa Clara, California. I first heard about this from Marnie Webb, who co-founded NetSquared.

We've discussed Ushahidi here before; the project won last year's NetSquared Mashup Challenge. Ushahidi was created to address the post-election crisis in Kenya , but is now being used to track violence, human rights abuses, and aid efforts all over the world. Tools Web 2.0

One of TechSoup's less-known areas of work has been to support and promote the work of other tech-for-good organizations, like Ushahidi in Kenya.
