The WEEE Directive is the set of laws that governs the proper collection and disposal of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) in the 27 countries of the European Union. We dispose of over 130 million cell phones every year of which 11 percent are recycled. About half of all people in Africa own mobile phones.
