Our database is set up based on the old nonprofit best practice of putting individual constituents/donors in a bucket “Individual&# account. Contacts are linked to donations solely through contact roles. Number of updates that target the contact<->contact role<->opportunity model: 0.

Last Monday, November 19, TechSoup learned that it was one of the organizations affected by the Convio/GetActive break-in, in which hackers stole email addresses and passwords of subscribers to various nonprofit newsletters. Within a matter of hours, TechSoup contacted the 3,000 subscribers whose passwords may have been stolen.

For organizations on the Convio platform, the Facebook application is a no-brainer and a HUGE improvement from Causes. They have also made it easy to build.

welcome series of emails to new contacts. Our strategy: We want to send new non-donor contacts a series of 3 short emails. I'm surprised how many nonprofits I talk to using Salesforce don't realize how easy this is. So I created 3 date fields on the contact record to show that the welcome email was sent.
