Looking at the Idealware Low Cost Database report , I find that there are so many considerations that it is quite complicated to make a choice. Or you might have some reports that are mandatory, like a lapsed donor report. Once you know what you're looking for you need to test vendors against those needs.

Many of Idealware's reports have been funded by foundations and some have had corporate sponsorship (and some are commissioned by TechSoup.org too). In addition, since Idealware must maintain its independence in order to produce their high-quality, unbiased reports and product comparisons, some potential funding sources are simply off limits.

This doesn’t mean a nonprofit should send their glossy annual report or magazine to every $5 donor. If inactive donors clutter your search results, code them so they don’t appear in searches. But don’t delete them. Organizations need to have a policy about what level of donation gets a particular level of stewardship.
