I just attended the 2010 Tech Awards Gala Even. Awards were presented in five areas: Environment, Economic Development, Education, Equality and Health. Tags: TechAwards Santa Clara Tech Museum Tech Awards. Inside there were 20 stations set up with this year’s laureates.

The big celebration was also in the Sheldonian: the 2007 Awards for Social Entrepreneurship. The ten new Skoll award winners got their moment in the sun (well, the klieg lights). For social entrepreneurs (except Jeff) this is the Academy Awards, and the smiles were beaming. And it was exciting!

Helen Keller, who worked for AFB for many years, was on the original award board for its first twenty years, starting in 1937.

At the India Economic Summit, Vikram Akula of SKS, the microfinance institution, won the award today. Big social entrepreneurship event here in New Delhi! Mrs. Sonia Gandhi was on hand for the presentation, and I understand that's unusual honor. There's great buzz around here about it. Of course, I'm meeting new folks as well as old friends.
