Not wanting mail? The other problem with marking them inactive, is that sometimes they make contact or give a gift, but someone forgets to remove the inactive code and then they are excluded from queries and mailings, etc. I suggest managing them by implementing some way to exclude them from mailings, etc. Not giving?

Plus, there are no graphics, no company name, no mention of my name, and some have typos in the subjects and hyperlinks ("Your be-weekly payroll is processed", "Click thist Link"). Who would click on these?

I also turned off most push notifications and automatic syncing (for instance, I fetch email only when I open the mail app). The phone came with separate apps for Gmail and all other mail. But I was able to set up my Gmail account through the "other" mail app and ignore the Gmail app. Most don't have any Help entries.

My Outlook spam filter (SpamBayes) doesn''t seem to look at meeting invitations, and it also slipped past the SpamAssassin filter on my mail server. This spam arrived in the form of a meeting invitation. Consequently I got a notification of an upcoming meeting with the spammer. This thread shows that the problem has been around for a while.

That's not ideal -- it doesn't respect the manual mail sync frequency I had set up. The trick (provided by Palm tech support) was to set up Google as an exchange server (yes, the Pre needs to treat Gmail as a Microsoft Exchange server) using server = m.google.com and domain = google. It's also not reliable.
