I've had a post in draft for a couple of weeks now about some personal/professional goals or my New Year's resolutions for 2009. I read Chris Brogan's " Your 3 Goals for 2009 " and I loved his process. Think of

Tony Karrer has an interesting post on the issue of learning goals. He's noticed that there seem to be two types of goals:
Directed Learning Goals – specific focus
Flow Learning Goals – nonspecific, exploratory
He goes on to argue that 1) people tend to fall into one of these two camps in terms of how they approach their own learning and 2) formal learning seems to more effectively support people with directed learning goals, while informal learning seems more for those with flow learning goals. In the midst of dinner she asked me a very interesting question,
“When your goal is very long-term, how do you decide what to do today? Collaboration is a huge focus of mine: Finding ways for organizations working in the same sector to share calls to action to amplify the impact, helping organizaitons understand where their work aligns to cross pollinate across their networks, and so forth. The organization's goal is to makes it easy for people to find
and I also remember when Peter Deitz launched the community discussion about his idea for Social Actions API back in January, 2008- he titled it " Help Me Clone Beth Kanter " as part of helping me with a Cambodian campaign was I working on at the time. He has identified nine goals for 2009 . For the last 2.5 years, Peter has been working extremely hard to build Social Actions from scratch.
