She told me an anecdote about an experience with the Stanford Art Museum exhibition, Question , which included a keyboard where visitors could type their own thoughts about art, to be projected on a wall along with quotes by famous people. Creating music can be both a private and public experience, and they address both.

I could imagine having a great time on videochat debating the merits of a piece of art with a stranger, trying to solve a puzzle together, talking about a news event, or sharing stories. On June 4, we opened The Tech Virtual Test Zone , a new 2000 sq ft gallery at The Tech Museum of Innovation featuring exhibits on the theme of art, film, and music that were originally developed in Second Life by a community of creative amateurs. I’ve long admired Improv Everywhere , the NYC-based participatory public art group. The recording starts with two and a half minutes of music without talking. The experiment continues, and participants do stranger and stranger things—following people, playing freeze tag, taking pictures of each other, forming a giant dartboard.
