A couple of good articles about how nonprofits are using myspace and some dos and don'ts this week. I have a myspace site but I haven't done any deep experimination. MySpace and Political Campaigns Joshua Levy at the Personal Democracy Forum wrote about the use of MySpace for political campaigns and by advocacy organizations.

The 1 st tool was MySpace back in 2007. The tools I am currently using are Facebook, two Twitter accounts (one for National messaging via @PanCAN and one specifically for advocacy efforts via @Advocate4PanCAN), YouTube, LinkedIn, MySpace and Delicious. It helped people connect and experience Advocacy Day 2010 from their homes.

MySpace, back when it was cool. We don’t use it like we use Facebook, for advocacy, fundraising, and relationship building. Everything we do online (our website, email program, advertising, social) is tied to our goals of advocacy and fundraising, or some other kind of lead generation. As nonprofits and advocacy groups delve deeper into social media, the need to assess their return on investment (ROI) is critical. Given the organizational goals of advocacy groups, it should be abundantly clear that ROI encompasses far more than fundraising, and in many cases will not include fundraising at all. Engagement.
