I think the reason we hold onto the idea generation part is because it's fun, not because it's the activity in which we have the most specialized expertise. The participatory "ask" is high--to create original content. After the conference, the wiki switched from being a participatory site to a useful record. A great public example of a wiki-based project is WeAreMedia , a wiki with the goal of creating a "social media starter kit for non-profits." But wikis are a very specific tool.
