Did you know that 93% of charities have a Facebook page? new study by the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Center for Marketing Research also found that 97% of large charities have a Facebook page as of 2009. The study found that charities adopted social media faster and the adoption was more widespread than for-profit use. 65% had blogs.

Cyberchondriacs are people who research health information online. The number of people searching online continues to grow – 17% of people looked online at least 10 times int he past month for health information ( source ). More than half share information they found online with their doctors.

John Haydon recently completed a 31-day series on how to improve your social media optimization. John, as you know, is a social media strategist who specializes in nonprofits and has an awfully resourceful blog. He kindly put the 31-day series into a zip file that is free and downloadable for the time being. Click to download.
Adam Ostrow from Mashable has written a nice article about a new feature Facebook is rolling out – it is called charity gifts. Basically, Facebook is opening up their gift store software – so you can buy a gift which is a $5 or $10 donation for a charity. Once they work out the kinks, Facebook should open it up to other charities.
I came across a video that I wanted to share prior to next Friday. It is from the Buzz2009 Conference – a national conference on social media for associations. The video is about the magic of viral marketing, led by Guy Kawasaki and Andy Sernovitz. The link to the video is [link].
Mozilla , the group that brought you the Firefox web browser among other great web based tools, is coordinating a week of service, called Mozilla Service Week. Through this project they want to connect web based volunteers with charitable groups who nee web and or technical support.

How else do you learn except by. practice? In the process, I learned some things about how to. optimize the user experience and enhance your Wordpress.org site on the. Internet.

Author: Lacey Kruger. While reviewing some new wireframes with a client the other day, we began to compare their own, nonprofit website with some other, commercial sites. In a way, commercial websites have it easy. Nonprofit websites don’t usually sell something tangible. Here, it’s not as clear.
