Taglines are incredibly powerful, which is why I'm always so excited when our fantastic board member Nancy Schwartz launches her tagline contest, and now she's back for round three! . So many nonprofit communicators were excited about last year’s awards, and had questions for us, that we developed a mini-site for this year’s program.

One way to get people to create content for you is through contests. A common form of contest among companies is the “create a commercial&# contest. Among organizations, contests may seem like a short-cut to get compelling content, and cheaply. The current Heinz contest is a great example.

Long campaigns can start to feel like a drag to your audience and may make them question why you aren’t being successful. Host polls and contests to engage your audience. It gives your audience time to see the content, but it doesn’t go on for so long that they grow weary of the Ask. Pick the right launch day.
