However, as a technology, printed books come with serious challenges for some communities (like blind people) that technology can unlock. It creates an opportunity to have public benefit being balanced with business interests. The next challenge we’re working on is to bring this incredible library to the rest of the world.

Some people have responded to the news with little more than bemusement that Encarta lasted as long as it did, and many have pointed to Wikipedia as Encarta's killer and successor.
