At their best, these are way more entertaining than email spam -- lots of creative English, garbled syntax, and mixed metaphors ("gladsome to mature this website," "earmarks of the army has recruited on boob tube," "Lossing albatross is benificial," "your current article causes me completely happy"). For example, if someone is speaking out of a line or continually spamming the chat, your chat moderator can post a message in the chat to remind everyone that spamming is not allowed. Certain event software may be able to disable users from posting comments in live chats or other areas where commenting is allowed.

Reciprocity : Roger Carr helped me with winning the America's Giving Challenge he blogged (more than once I might add), left supportive comments, retweeted to his network ( connected me to Dr. Mani ), and personally donated to my campaign. Relationship : It's spring fundraising season and I'm getting spammed.

His Twitter account was used as a platform to broadcast hatespeech to his thousands of followers. TechSoup's own Kevin Lo noticed some strange activity on his email accounts when friends were replying to spam he was supposedly sending out. Share if you dare in the comments below. But the absolute worst part of the attack?

Could mean that users don’t have a way to manage the amount of posts (read: spam) that could get through to them… I got an error that said only letters, spaces and punctuation were allowed… no numbers?! Not just to broadcast, but to have a conversation, share ideas, and provide context. Isn’t that the point?

Facebook’s organic reach is equivilent to sending 100 donors a fundraising email and having 98 of them classified spam and consequently blocked. You are not a videographer or broadcast reporter, but to be good at the Next Big Things you have to be. But ROI is minimal in the traditional sense.
